Hitman (2007)

4.0/10
I'm probably being a little generous with that score, because there's something in me that loves this style of film. To look at it objectively however; the dialogue may be better if there was none at all, the violence stands out as being there just to be there & the story lines feels disjointed- like a computer game. Funny that. It was probably better to leave this one as what it started out as, but perhaps as someone who was never a die hard fan of the game- maybe I'm missing the point. I'm sure there would be something magical for those who loved the game and the character to get to see it as a film. I know I'd love a movie about Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell) even if it deserved less than a 4.0 out of 10.
Anyway- it's based on the Playstation game. A hitman trained from birth by a radical faction of the church to eradicate all the evils of the earth. "The only thing neccessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Something like that somewhere in the Bible. Meets sexy woman, lives are in danger, fight, fight, run, fight, outwit the smart cop, let him live, fight, fight, nearly have sex with sexy woman...etc fight.
It's better than watching T.V, no ads- that's a plus. Gratutious violence is a bit of fun, let's all be honest with ourselves. Timothy Olyphant pulls off the tough guy well. Looks pretty good with a shaved pill. Few witty quips. You've seen it before if you think about it.
I think if you know what your in for, you may find yourself enjoying the feel of it all. Some of the scenes are almost impressive, very nearly, though not quite Jason Borne, though the parellels are binding- it's blasphemy to compare the two really.
Directed by: Xavier Gens
Starring: Timothy Olyphant
Written by: Skip Woods
Trailer: Really Long Link
