Bee Movie (2007)
April 30th 2008 02:35
7.0/10
It's light, entertaining and doesn't linger with you like some other, parasitic texts. Exactly what you want and expect from an animated adventure.
Don't get me wrong, some of my favourite films and books stay with me for days, weeks, months and a special few are with me for years; that's not what you're looking for when you order pizza and get settled into the couch to watch Bee Movie.
You want something that you can sit wide eyed in front of and easily digest. Jokes that don't require your brain to clunk over and consider. The film, as it should, asks nothing of the viewer. It is an entertainer happy to be in front- bright and colourful, asking little in return.
Following the Journey of a young honey bee, dissatisfied with the prospect of the mundane that awaits him; his discoveries of the wide world and finally a compelling reason to exist.
I laughed, not barreling, uncontrollable laughter, simple, nice, through the nose chuckles. (Except for Chris Rock's character who I opened my mouth to laugh for.)
Watch it when you've had a hard day at work and want to slide smiling into a bright jovial world where even serious problems remain colourful.
Directed By: Simon Smith
Starring: Renee Zellwegger, Jerry Seinfeld, John Goodman, Chris Rock & Matthew Brodrick
Written By: Jerry Seinfeld, Barry Marder, Spike Feresten & Andy Robin
Trailer: Really Long Link
